Do you agree with taking away half days and making kids go exactly 180 days of school?

Tony Bennett, Indiana school superintendent, is attempting to pass a law stating that all students must go to school exactly 180 days. He is also taking away all half days (they will not count as instructional days). To make up days missed, students will either have to go to school on Saturday or days will be added onto the end of the year which cuts into summer break. Do you agree or disagree and why?Do you agree with taking away half days and making kids go exactly 180 days of school?
If I'm not mistaken, half days are usually built in for the benefit of the teachers. These days are usually referred to as ';Teacher Inservice Days';, where teachers train and progress more in their instructional abilities. This is required by law.

Do I agree with it? No, and here's why:

And this is coming from a point of view focusing on the teacher.

In no other profession would an employee be required to come after hours without being paid overtime, so why should it be any different for teachers? You can ask them to, but you can't require it.

So do we need ';half days';? Yes, I believe so.Do you agree with taking away half days and making kids go exactly 180 days of school?
i think it is STUPID it should be there to give students a time to take a break an about mis days you would have to go on saturdays an sunday i think you should try to influence your principal to wat it takes so convince him also you said something about having to go to school if you mis days he may not know if you are sick or something and a180 days is to long for students
GA has always been 180 days a year
